- We focus on three classes in pursuit of this success• The Oman Sail Women’s Sailing Programme was launched in 2011 to create equal opportunities in the sport of sailing and create the foundations for the first all-female sailing team in the Gulf region.• More than Omani 150 women applied for the first year of the programme, with 30 chosen to form the inaugural group. Within a year 21 were awarded World Sailing accredited sailing instructor certificates, an exceptional achievement.• The Women’s Sailing Programme has now become a template for other organisations in Oman and across the Arab world to create opportunities for women, leading to much wider socio-economic benefits for all.
